By Road: from Victoria and South Island: To reach Port Alberni from Victoria, take the #1& #19 Island Highway heading north, then take the highway #4 West turnoff to Port Alberni. Highway #4 will take you into Port Alberni via Johnston Road. Give yourself at least 2.5 hours total driving time and as much as 3 hours in heavier traffic situations. 

from Nanaimo: To reach Port Alberni from Nanaimo, take the #19 Island Highway heading north, then take the highway #4 West turnoff to Port Alberni. Highway #4 will take you into Port Alberni via Johnston Road (or Port Alberni Highway). 

from Courtenay/Comox and North Island: Take #19 Island Highway south then exit at the Qualicum Beach turnoff heading west on #4. Highway #4 will take you into Port Alberni via Johnston Road (or Port Alberni Highway). 

By Ferry via Vancouver/Lower Mainland: If you are coming from Vancouver, take the one hundred minute BC Ferries sailing from Horseshoe Bay (West Vancouver) to Nanaimo's Departure Bay Terminal. Stay on the #19 Island Highway heading north, then take the #4 West. Port Alberni is an easy 1 hour drive from the Ferry Terminal

Alternatively, you can also take the one hundred twenty minute  BC Ferries sailing from Tsawwassen (Vancouver) to Nanaimo's Duke Point Terminal. Again, Stay on the #19 Island Highway heading north, then take the #4 West. Port Alberni is about 75 minutes from this Ferry Terminal

The Tofino Bus Service has stops throughout the Island and is an easy way to get about no matter where you're going or where you're starting from. 

By Air: 

Pacific Seaplanes  began scheduled service to Port Alberni in January of 2016. The service is direct to the Harbour Quay area at our Centennial Pier and has started with once daily round trips between Port Alberni and Vancouver. The service has expanded significantly since starting and is now running upwards of three trips per day between Port Alberni and Vancouver. Pacific Seaplanes also have a number of local sightseeing tours available including a spectacular one that will bring you over to Canada's highest Waterfalls - Della Falls. 

KD Air proudly offers daily scheduled services between Port Alberni and the South Terminal at Vancouver International Airport (YVR). Their convenient shuttle bus service will pick you up from, or drop you off at The Hospitality Inn, Best Western Barclay Hotel, or the Timberlodge, and will safely transport you to or from Qualicum Beach for your 30 minute flight.

Westjet/Air Canada both have scheduled service to our nearby airports of Nanaimo and Comox. Each of those airports are just over 1 hour from Port Alberni and each provide for a number of connecting flights to Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary and Seattle.
