We should do a study....Like, what is the average age of a business in Port Alberni? Could it be that we have the highest age of any in the Country? We'd certainly be way up there! Here's a feature on yet another icon in Port Alberni. Started in 1980 LB Woodchoppers is an awesome place. Their product lines are excellent, their service is impeccable and for many of us they are a one stop shopping experience. Bill Kirshner is the Manager for LB Woodchoppers and he's held that position for more than 30 years. The business has 9 FT employees who look after the rental side of the business as well as the retail which includes work boots, high vis clothing, excavators, lawn equipment and much more. The business recently expanded by 2000 square feet adding many more product lines to the business model. They are MUCH MORE than a Chain Saw store (but they do sell/service those too!). Bill was born and raised in Port Alberni and likes it for what it is. A wonderful community that has everything one could need. Great sports programs including golf and hockey which are both close to Bill's heart. The company supports many tournaments, and they also support Chamber initiatives such as the various Shop Local programs we've initiated.
