St. John Paul II Catholic School

St. John Paul II Catholic School joined the Island Catholic Schools’ family in September of 2005. We reside in the building formerly known as Smith Memorial School, which was a Catholic school from 1950/51 – 1975/76.

Currently we have a student population of 109, from Kindergarten to Grade 7. As well, our facility includes Mini Miracles Family Daycare Centre & Preschool, offering care and excellent programming for infants to 5 year olds.

Our dedicated staff is able to meet the needs of our students whether they need extra help or extra challenges. We offer full day Kindergarten, French, fine arts, technology, ESL opportunities, and P.E. Our staff is fully qualified and certified.

Our students participate in activities sponsored by the Island Catholic Schools as well as events with SD#70.

St. John Paul II Catholic School

We opened in September 2005 with a population of 37 students in grades K - 7. We had 3 classrooms with 4.24 teachers. We have seen tremendous growth over the years. There is a wonderful, happy spirit between staff, students, and parents. St. John Paul II is a place where staff and students learn, serve, lead, and succeed.

Parishioners, volunteers, the Knights of Columbus (Alberni and Parksville/Qualicum), the CWL (Alberni and Parksville/Qualicum), our sister schools, the Diocese of Victoria, the Parents' Auxiliary, and the Local School Council, all contribute to the success of St. John Paul II. Many of these people continue to give and to share on a regular basis to assure the continuance of Catholic education in Port Alberni. Their efforts and generosity are most appreciated.

Together we are making a difference for children in the Port Alberni Valley.
