Totem Tree Service - Dave Potter
Interviewed a really nice fellow the other day. Dressed for work he was bundled up in a warm wool sweater with several layers. Clearly he works outside! Dave Potter is a super nice guy! He owns and operates Totem Tree Service a business that's been around for four years under his guide. Dave was born and raised right here in the Alberni Valley and of course like most of us he loves the outdoors. He spent about 15 years heli-logging and he's also been heavily involved in the Tourism field of work including cave guiding, rock guiding and canoe instruction much of which was done at Horne Lake. Dave's wife Jennie is very involved in the business too. She hails from Eastern Canada a place called White Rock in the Lower Mainland. They have 4 FT employees plus 2 others who work PT. Impressive! When asked what the community might not know about the business Dave says this: "We do stump grinding, danger tree removals, risk assessments, we rescue cats, and we rescue drones too! We also offer firewood sales, wood chips and other services." Totem Tree Service also do residential pruning, fruit tree services, Christmas Light installations and tree chipping. In his limited spare time Dave likes to lift weights (guessing he bench presses fir trees?), he also likes mountaineering, rock climbing and canoeing. The couple love Port Alberni and comment that we are in a perfect location with much to do here and within an hour of pretty much anything else.
